Every year, EnglishWorks helps hundreds of Brazilian students improve their English language skills, ultimately helping them to grow more confident in their communication. Why did you decide to volunteer with EnglishWorks?
I saw it as an opportunity to get to know people from a country—Brazil—I previously knew little about
What was your favorite part about volunteering with EnglishWorks?
Seeing everyone’s happy, smiling faces every week and hearing their English improve over the length of the course.
What did you do before you became a volunteer?
I used to work at a university, but now I teach English as a Second Language.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
I’m Australian and I eat Vegemite. People from other countries think Vegemite is weird, but I think it’s tasty!
What is one fact about you that your students don’t know?
I had my own Saturday night radio show for five years.
